World Cup Day at Grayshott, 2018

Grayshott Football Club has a long tradition of fostering young football talent in Grayshott and the surrounding villages. We are always on the lookout and welcome new players so if your children are interested in giving football a go, please don’t hesitate to contact us, or pop down to one of our training sessions.

Grayshott Football Club is accredited as an FA Charter Standard Club. This means we are able to demonstrate a safe, positive football environment where children of all ages can develop their skills, keep fit and enjoy playing as part of a friendly, inclusive community.

We organise coaching and development football for boys and girls aged 4 to 17 who live in Grayshott and the surrounding area. If you have a child who is interested in football, then please contact us to find out more.

The club is a not-for-profit organisation run on a voluntary basis by the club committee members, team managers, and coaches, who kindly give up their own time.

Young player development

As a club, we follow the FA’s technical guide for developing and supporting grass roots football.

The changes to football formats for young players implemented over the last few years allow children to play on appropriately sized pitches with appropriate sized goals, encouraging a greater number of touches of the ball and an increased involvement in the game. These formats help young players develop better technical and decision-making skills from a younger age – and have more fun!

U7 & U8s play 5v5, while U9 & U10s play 7v7. Children move up to 9v9 football at U11 & U12 age groups, with bigger pitches, bigger goals and longer games.

At the U13 & U14 level, teams step up to 11v11, although some leagues continue to offer 9v9 at U13 level. From U15 upwards, the players move up to full-size pitch and full-size goals.
