Celebrating Achievements at the Grayshott U14 Awards!

GYFC celebrated its U14 Team Awards at Grayshott Recreation Ground at the end of September. The team – now the U15s, of course – gathered after Wednesday evening training to look back on the 20-21 season and receive their awards. The event was organised by their coaches/GYFC Committee and was very well supported by parents/carers/family members.

The mood was further enhanced by a great spread of food and drink, which was rustled up on the barbecue by the Grayshott community. Burgers and hotdogs were in especially strong demand!

Coaches Dave Heathcock and Paul Clowes-Pritchard presented the following awards:

  1. U14 Parents’ Player of the Year : Dylan
  2. U14 Player’s Player of the Year : Jesper
  3. U14 Coaches Player of the Year (three awards): Harry (not present, so accepted by Club captain), Max and Joseph

Congratulations to all five boys and the rest of the team, who warmly applauded the award winners!

The U15s continue to go from strength to strength with a strong and positive start to the 21-22 League campaign and are looking forward to the next U15 awards ceremony!

Grassroots football update

We have received an update today from The Football Association on grassroots football in advance of step two of the Government’s roadmap. The Government has confirmed that on Monday 12 April we will enter step two of the roadmap and so the FA’s guidance has therefore been updated to reflect the changes to national restrictions. The key changes to note are in relation to spectators, use of changing rooms and outdoor hospitality. Please note this updated guidance comes into effect on Monday 12 April and until then all participants should follow The FA’s guidance for step one, apart from the updated position on spectators which the Government confirmed yesterday and is effective immediately. You can find full details on the updated guidance from the FA here: https://www.thefa.com/…/grassroots-football-update-step…

We’re back!

We are delighted that Grassroots football has now re-started – again! – with both development and competitive games extending into May and in some cases June, after a very disrupted season! Whilst we are unable to hold ‘home’ games due to shared facilities, everyone is working hard to find alternative solutions for all ages, including our popular All Stars sessions for our youngest players. Coaches will keep individual teams updated as information becomes available and please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for details regarding All Stars and anything further. You can reach us by email for all general queries on info@grayshottfc.co.uk.

Grassroots football returns…

We are very happy to confirm after the lifting of lockdown #2 in England and the re-introduction of tier systems, grassroots football can re-start from today! Please find details of the revised guidelines from the FA here. Revised guidelines based around the Tier alert levels for your area can also be found here.

The FA and associated leagues have been working hard to re-schedule matches and some of our teams will begin playing again from this coming weekend. Our club has carried out detailed risk assessments and all coaches and committee members have access to all these documents which they will be very happy to provide in full, upon request. However, we would like to highlight the main measures in place at Grayshott Youth Football Club for both training sessions and matches here.

All measures put in place follow guidelines we have been given and primarily are to protect all players, coaches, parents & guardians, members, spectators and visitors to keep them as safe as possible. We kindly ask for everyone’s support in helping us all adhere to these measures which will also help to ensure football can continue for as long as possible. Other clubs may have slightly different measures in place specific to their venue and we ask that these are also respectfully followed.

Thank you for your continued support and let’s hope football can continue for the rest of the season with minimal further disruption!

Club Vacancy – Chair Person

We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic new Chair for our lovely football club and would love to hear from anyone in the local community who might be interested in complementing our great team of volunteers.

We are looking for someone – or a couple of people to Chair and Vice-Chair – to provide leadership and direction but also to bring new ideas and opportunities as the club strives in its efforts to provide enjoyment and development opportunities for the children. Many on the committee have been involved for several years now, so we are keen to engage support for the next generation of players in Grayshott Youth Football Club and for them to become part of it’s future.

We do hope there is someone out there willing and able to join us soon! For more details please contact info@grayshottfc.co.uk. Thank you!

Grayshott Youth Football Club awarded funding to revamp football facilities

People living in the Grayshott area are set to benefit from fresh investment into local football facilities as Grayshott Youth Football Club have been awarded a grant from the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation, to upgrade two sets of goal posts.

The Football Foundation is the UK’s largest sports charity and exists to improve the experience of playing football for everyone, by championing fair access to quality facilities.

Grassroots football matches and training cannot take place at the moment due to the COVID-19 outbreak and will only restart when it is safe to do so following government advice but this funding is great news for local football in the meantime.

Grayshott Football Club has worked with the Football Foundation and the Hampshire FA to secure a grant of £2,160 towards this project, which will hugely benefit many children across several age groups both now and in the future, providing significant improvement to our facilities.

Robert Sullivan, Interim Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “We know the huge benefits playing regular football can have on individuals’ physical and mental well-being.  That’s why we’re committed to transforming the face of grassroots football facilities in this country.  It’s therefore very welcome news to hear that this funding will support Grayshott Football Club’s efforts of providing grassroots football in the local community.

“Working with our partners – the Premier League, The FA, government and Sport England – we will be investing in over £1bn worth of local facilities across the country over the next decade.  We believe we can transform lives and strengthen communities by unlocking the power of pitches and this is another project that brings us closer to that ultimate goal.”
