Grayshott Youth Football Club awarded funding to revamp football facilities

People living in the Grayshott area are set to benefit from fresh investment into local football facilities as Grayshott Youth Football Club have been awarded a grant from the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation, to upgrade two sets of goal posts.

The Football Foundation is the UK’s largest sports charity and exists to improve the experience of playing football for everyone, by championing fair access to quality facilities.

Grassroots football matches and training cannot take place at the moment due to the COVID-19 outbreak and will only restart when it is safe to do so following government advice but this funding is great news for local football in the meantime.

Grayshott Football Club has worked with the Football Foundation and the Hampshire FA to secure a grant of £2,160 towards this project, which will hugely benefit many children across several age groups both now and in the future, providing significant improvement to our facilities.

Robert Sullivan, Interim Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “We know the huge benefits playing regular football can have on individuals’ physical and mental well-being.  That’s why we’re committed to transforming the face of grassroots football facilities in this country.  It’s therefore very welcome news to hear that this funding will support Grayshott Football Club’s efforts of providing grassroots football in the local community.

“Working with our partners – the Premier League, The FA, government and Sport England – we will be investing in over £1bn worth of local facilities across the country over the next decade.  We believe we can transform lives and strengthen communities by unlocking the power of pitches and this is another project that brings us closer to that ultimate goal.”

U7’s Debut

A huge well done to all our new U7’s and their coach last weekend who played their first ever match against Bourne Blade Hawks. We love the drawing from one of our player’s (below) with their own personal insight of the match, it looks excellent fun! We are currently looking for more players to join the team so if you are interested please get in touch by emailing info@grayshottfc.co.uk. Good luck for the rest of the season Phoenix!

All Stars fun

It was great to see so many children having so much fun at our free taster session last Saturday and we are pleased to offer another one this coming Saturday on 26th September. This is a great introduction to football for all girls and boys between 4-6 years, with the emphasis on enjoyment and having fun! If you are interested, just turn up on the day at Grayshott Recreation ground between 11am and 12pm. Hope to see you there!

Inviting new sponsors

We are gearing up for the long anticipated start to the season and looking for some generous local companies willing to sponsor our teams this season. Sponsorship is a vital and hugely beneficial contribution to the running of our club and helps fund team kits and equipment for the children. We have a few teams in need of a sponsor this season along too with our All Stars sessions, which provide our youngest budding footballers a fun and friendly introduction to the beautiful game! Our teams play in the North East Hants and Surrey leagues. If anyone is interested or can help in any way, we would be very grateful and would love to hear from you! THANK YOU!

We need new players

We’d love to hear from all boys and girls wishing to play football next season 2020/2021. We currently have availability in a few squads, particularly U10’s and U15’s. If interested, please contact us by email info@grayshottfc.co.uk and we can provide more details. Look forward to hearing from you!

Weekend winners!

Congratulations to our U14’s Sparks who earned their place in the NEHYL Senior Cup Final to be held in May after a 3-1 win over Bagshot Lea Titans. Congratulations as well to our U14’s Flames who won 2-0 against Guildford City in the Surrey Premier League semi-final and will play in the final for the fifth year running.

League Elite Cup final

Well done to all our U9 Grayshott Devils and their coaches Dean and Joel for reaching the final of the League Elite Cup 2019 – 2020. It was a hard fought match and all the team played superb football, narrowly missing out with a final score of 2-1 to Curley Park Rangers Panthers. Well done to the winners and hopefully we’ll be back next year!
