Mini Sparks
Our Saturday morning starting point for 4 and 5 year olds — the first taste of football for most Grayshott FC players.
Mini Sparks is a gentle, friendly introduction to football for children in Reception and Year 1. There are no trials and no experience needed — sessions are built around simple games, lots of touches of the ball and plenty of laughing. It runs on the grass at Grayshott Recreational Ground in the middle of the village, so it is an easy Saturday morning for families in Grayshott, Hindhead, Headley Down, Beacon Hill and Haslemere.
Sessions are led by volunteer coaches from the club, all DBS-checked and FA safeguarding trained. Children who enjoy Mini Sparks usually move up into our U7 squad when they reach Year 2, staying with the same friends as they go.
Mini Sparks questions
- What age is Mini Sparks for?
- Children in Reception and Year 1 — usually aged 4 and 5. If your child is in Year 2 or above, they are ready for one of our age-group teams.
- When and where does Mini Sparks run?
- Every Saturday morning during term time, 9am to 10am, at Grayshott Recreational Ground, Beech Hanger Road, Grayshott, GU26 6LS.
- Does my child need any experience?
- None at all. Mini Sparks is where most of our players start — it is about running about with a ball, making friends and enjoying a Saturday morning.
- What should they bring?
- Trainers or football boots, shin pads, clothes for the weather and a drink. No club kit is needed to come along and try it.
- Do parents stay?
- Yes — parents and carers stay on the Rec during the session. Plenty of families use it as their Saturday morning catch-up.
